About Our Clinic:

Dr. Lyle L. Scott opened Salem Park Veterinary Clinic in 1977.  He grew up in the Willamette Valley and returned after obtaining his DVM from Colorado State University.  His initial focus was primarily large animal medicine.   As his practice grew he began treating cats and dogs on the farms that he visited and eventually needed a clinic location.  Dr. Scott formed long lasting relationships with many of his clients and patients due to his generous nature, compassion, and medical expertise.  We still have a few clients today that started coming to the clinic when it first opened.

Dr. Kathleen E. Hanifen had been a client of Dr. Scott’s for almost 20 years when she obtained her DVM from Oregon State University.  As a client, she really liked the personal attention that a smaller clinic is able to provide and wanted to practice the same kind of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Scott retired and Dr. Hanifen purchased the clinic in 2011.  The clinic has seen many changes since he retired but the philosophy that made the clinic successful for the past 40 years remains the same.  We look forward to continuing to take care of our current patients and clients and meeting new ones.

In Memoriam:
Wanda Stombaugh

Wanda joined Salem Park Veterinary Clinic in April 1992 and her contributions to the clinic cannot be overstated.  Many of our clients really enjoyed the personalized attention they got from her.  The clinic isn't the same without her and she is missed every day.
Buddy
Clinic Cat/Manager
Buddy joined Salem Park Veterinary Clinic in 2012. Prior to joining the clinic, he was living on the mean streets of Aumsville.  He was the official office manager and greeter, and took pride in his work. He stole our hearts, and the clinic is not the same without him.

Billy
Clinic Cat
Billy joined Salem Park Veterinary Clinic in the summer of 2016 and was the official client greeter for the practice. His main interests included food, snacks, and treats. One could often find Billy in his designated office chair at the front desk or bothering Abby as she tried to vacuum the floors at the end of the day. He was purrfect.

Lyle L. Scott, DVM
Veterinarian
"Life is not a journey to the pearly gates with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, reins in one hand, saddle in the other; thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaim: "Wow! What a ride!!"."
